Call of Duty Black Ops review

November 16, 2010

I’m not a very big gamer but I do tend to go through phases when huge releases such as Halo and Call of Duty come out. I’ll go home most days at lunch and play a game or two online to feed my gaming addiction.

I didn’t buy Call of Duty: Black Ops until this past Sunday. I sold my Xbox 360 Elite for $200 and went out to buy an Xbox 360 Slim 4GB with Kinect. I got the console, Kinect Sensor, Kinect Adventures and Black Ops for $370.99 at Best Buy. Not a bad deal. Without going into a whole other post, Kinect is amazing and gives you a great workout. My roommates and I have been playing Kinect Adventures where you can go rafting, play rally ball and some other different obstacle type games. In my room, we’re kind of limited to the amount of space. You really need a good size area to get the full effect.

Infinity Ward > Treyarch. Treyarch sucks. Call of Duty: Black Ops has way too much narration in my opinion. When I’m playing a game in Campaign mode, I don’t mind a little story here and there, but Blacks Ops went a bit overboard with their story. Some of the direction is horrible too. It seems like a 3 year old put it together at parts. I normally don’t play much Campaign anyway – I like to stick to playing multiplayer online. It’s more fun in my opinion.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Score: 9/10
